Start by asking the teacher , get an evaluation and follow their suggestion. Depending upon how many levels there are, why not start one or two up from the basic? If there are young kids - so what? - They'll look up to you as a role model, showing that it's never too late to start dancing and that they can do as well as you. If you and the teacher feel it's too low a level you can move up.

Start out at the lowest level possible. It's fun to start with kids, it's fine. I was on a competition team for eight years, and then three years later joined back up in tap at a beginner level with little kids, and a few other older ones like me. You move up, eventually, when you're ready, which is the best time to be in those classes. =]

u could probably go to a class for adult beginners, that way, u wont feel uncomfartable around the younger kids or feel like a fool among those advance.

its not too late too start, i'm a teenager n juz starting. so i'll say go ahead 4 a class..u'll enjoy it

all da best
