Position:Home>Dancing> Possible to get more flexible after 30?

Question:I take dance classes (ballet, jazz) for fun when I can. I'm 30 and have never been very flexible, even as a child. My splits are more like 90 degrees than 180 degrees! But I build strength and technique quickly. Is it even possible to become more flexible with time and stretching at my age?

Yup! The warm up is almost better than the tech. If you are building strength then the flexibility comes with the territory. Flexibilit has to do with repetition. Keep working at it, you'll get it. But you got to be consistent like 4-6 times a week consistent

Of course! It's not as if at a certain age your muscles become completely unstretchable. You just need to work on your stretches EVERY DAY after warming up a little bit.

Yes! I'm 40 and more flexible than I've been in years. I started ballet about 6 years ago, just once a week. Once I added a Pilates class it made a huge difference in both my strength and flexibility. Ballet and jazz alone will help you with your flexibility, but try adding Pilates too!

of course it is!!! anyone can become flexible...i was never really flexible but i kept stretching and eventually became really flexible...you just have to stretch every night...hope this helps! :-)
