What does ballet mean to you?

Question:i would like to know your honest thoughts on what ballet means to you. Everything from what you thinkg about the people that dance e.g. men in tights, are they gay? or what makes female dancers so skinny. any thoughts will do. thanks

I read on Capezio's website that the average dancers' weight is around 10 lbs lighter than medical average,,,,,o.0.
I dunno....

i think ballet is a very underrated performance art that should be appreciated. Those dancers are the most talented performers that i know..i just wish people could take the time to see a ballet performance and just maybe they can changed their mind about ballet..and to me ballet is not boring but rather a beautiful and very delicate dance

i am a dancer and it is my life, its the most beautiful art in the world to be very honest.

At my school the thought is:
Dancing is living!
And I totally agree with that. Ballet is hard work, but the result is so worth it in the end.
It's not just skinny girls, but also the little girls trying to get a tendu right.
It's also not just gay men in tights, my teacher is a 'macho' as we call it, had been married, has kids and was one heck of a dancer.
So, look at the joy ballet brings and you'll see that it is living.

When people at my school found out I was a ballet dancer, they thought I was either gay or crazy. I luv ballet cuz I have the coolest teachers and guest teachers. The only part I don't like is when 1) you get really crappy parts and 2) the biatchy dancers. I can't stand them. You know, the ones who talk about people behind their backs...

Ballet is a wonderful dance form and I'm so glad to be a part of the dancing world. Now that dance has been introduced into my life I don't think it will ever be taken out. I don't think I could live without dance. I am constantly dancing and I don't even notice it sometimes! Ballet is art!

If anyone ever gets the chance to take ANY kind of dance class you should deffinatly go for it. Any one can have a love for dance. You don't have to be girly. Someone in my dance class is the punkiest girl I've ever met and she does ballet.

Im a ballerina and basicly ballet means my lfe! Non of the people i know who dances look anorexic some are skinny and some are chubby it doesn't make a difference on how they dance. If a guy does ballet and wears tights i find it attractive lol but there is nothing wrong with it i mean if guys shouldn't do ballet then girls shouldn't do football hope this helped....xxx

Ballet is tough. It is the basics of all dance. It is beautiful and at times it is boring. It is graceful and lovely. Men in tights, no they are all not gay but certainly they have a feminine side. Female dancers are thin beacuse they have to be lifted up in the air especially for ballet dancers.

it doesn't mean anything to me but i like watching ''save the last dance" and other dance movies

ballet has been a major part of my life since I was 8 years old. It embody's discipline and dedication, and those qualities tend to carry over into other aspects of a dancer's life.

i think of ballet as a beautiful art form that really inspires me, its been my lifelong dream 2 learn n i've now been finally given the chance...i love the grace n poise of most dancers and i hope i could one day be as good as them.

men in ballet shouldnt b written off as gay immedietly, if that were to happen, ballet wouldnt b complete b'cuz there would b no pas de deux... n the girls couldnt "fly" on the stage
