Question:is it okay to use the song Ole Ole Ole by Ricky Martin for swing dancing?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: is it okay to use the song Ole Ole Ole by Ricky Martin for swing dancing?

Having not heard it, I can't say for sure. However, the first answer sounds like it might be correct. If it has a more Latin beat, it might not be right for swing dancing. How long are the phrases, and what kind of swing dancing do you do? Lindy hop has an 8-count basic, and East Coast Swing has a 6-count basic. I hope that helps.

Where will you be swing dancing? If you are looking for swing music, it would be best to look for jazz and big band music though you can dance to other things as well.

Here are some artists to try:

Vintage Swing:
Ella Fitzgerald (of course!)
Count Basie
Duke Ellington
Benny Goodman
Artie Shaw

Beginner dancers often enjoy:
Cherry Poppin' Daddies (ECS)
Big Bad Voodoo Dad (ECS)
Squirrel Nut Zippers (Actually, not just beginners like them. They're great!)

Newer Vintage Groups:
George Gee (NYC)
Michael Aranella (sp) and his Dreamland Orchestra (NYC- very early trad. jazz, great for Charleston)
Boilermakers (based in Pittsburg, well-known everywhere)

There is also a CD you can buy from Yehoodi.com called For Dancers Only that you might like.

Enjoy!

I NOT SO SURE I NEVER HEARD OF THAT SONG BUT I NOW RICKY MARTIN IS MORE LATIN BEAT MORE FOR BASIC DANCING. TRY AND TEST IT OUT IF YOU HAVE THE SONG WITH YOU PUT IT ON AND SWING DANCE TO IT, AND SEE IF THE BEAT OF THE SONG SOUNDS RIGHT WITH THE DANCE.

HAVE FUN DANCING.

it is not traditional but if you feel the beat go with it. I am a huge fan of dancing to the unexpected!
