Position:Home>Dancing> How do I figure out what width I am in pointe shoes without going for a fitting?

Question:I am purchasing the "Aspiriation" Bloch dance shoe for an upcoming show I'm in. I'm not going to dance en pointe, I just go up on occasion because my character is a dancer. I'm not going to go to a store for a fitting because I'm getting a great deal online. Usually I wear a size 91/2 so I'm buying size 8, but I'm not sure what width to get. I have fairly wide, flat feet, but I'm not sure if I'm a B, C, D, or E. Is there a way I can, like, measure my feet to know? Or should I just wing it and return them if I need to?

i wear a 9 street shoe, and my pointe shoes are 7C.

my feet arent nessicarily 'wide' but they definatley arent narrow.

if you think they're wide, id go for a D. good luck:)

It's best to go for a fitting. If they don't fit like they should you can hurt yourself.

You don't usually have to pay to go for a fitting, keep that in mind. Where pointe shoes over the internet are concerned, I'd say watch out, just because I have a friend who tried that and she got a really crappy used pair that was all broken down, and basically the person ripped her off. I agree, it's best to go to a store and get them to fit your shoes for you, that way at least you know you are the only one wearing them and they fit you correctly. Also, if you are not a dancer, (which Im assuming you are not from what you said) be EXTREMELY careful when you are going up. While pointe seems easy, it is actually VERY VERY difficult and if you dont have the correct size shoe, ouch pouch and dont know how to hold yourself up and stand properly, you could really hurt yourself. That's why at all the good studios and national ballet companies, they REQUIRE that you have done ballet for at least five years before you can go up on pointe.

Yeah, you would never really know your true size unless you get a fitting.
