Question:Can a 9 year old take a ballet lesson, but she didn't even take a lesson when she was around 3 year old?

(They say not, because older children cannot stretch their leg if they're not yet used to it when they was young..)

I started dancing at age 11, my sister started at 9. My bff started at 13, I can list at least 20 friends who started over the age of 9. It should be fine!
So yes, a 9-year-old can take a ballet lesson, even if she didn't take a lesson when she was a small child. Who says not? I mean, I've seen women (we have an adults class @ my school) who were in their late 30's take a class for the first time.

Back in Anna Pavlova's day, the Russian schools didn't take kids under ten. So it's got to be possible.

A nine year old girl should learn the art from of ballet.I know people who started at the age of 12 and up and they are great dancers. As a dancer myself I say let her do it. She will love it.

i didnt take ballett until i was 11. i thihnk she should have had some experience in the dance field like when she was 3 though. like tap or jazz. that wouldove helped her a lot. she can probally dance but she would falter in comp.

Definitely! I know lots of dancers who didn't start dancing until college and turned out beautiful. She will have to practice stretching quite a bit though, at home in addition to class.
