Position:Home>Dancing> Dance therapy major?

Question:i was looking around at colleges and came across the dance therapy major.
i'm a dancer myself and love it. i also work as a physical therapy aid, but i don't think i want to necessarily do that.

what do you know about dance therapy?
what's involved in it?
is it a good career? is there money to be made in it?
how long would i be in school for? can you name any schools with it?

i'm also hoping to double major. i'm very interested in being a music industry major, so maybe dance therapy could be a minor.

I know one person who wants to major in Dance Therapy. My Modern dance teacher has degrees in that and is a practicing dance therapist.

What I know is that you can work with all types of people: young, old, mentally and/or physically disabled, people with other mental conditions or stress, etc. Its just another artistic way of therapy like art and music therapies. In my opinion I think it works better for some people compared to regular therapy where you sit and talk.

I'm not sure about how much money you can make, or schools. I'd assume schooling is about 2-4 years.

Here is some info, its actually a major I am interested in myself. http://www.collegeboard.com/csearch/majo...

I don't know anything myself, but I dance and I've been watching videos made by a dance physiotherapist on youtube.com. Search for lisahowell2
