Question:I have a dance rehersal tomorrow, and a recital the next day. I don't know why I am nervous for the rehersal, because I've done it before. I think its because I really want to please my teacher. Can you help me overcome my nervousness

Ok, I get nervous sooooo badly before I go on stage! I think that nerves are a good thing! Because they help you perform better because you are alert and conscious of your movements. What I do is say a prayer to help calm my nerves then I go out there and ENJOY the moments I am on stage. And that really helps! Also I know people that never get nervous and I htink that is very unfortunate because I think that they dont enjoy it as much because they are like whatever I have done this a million times before and this is just a million and one so who cares. But if you are nervous I guess what I am trying to say is that you will feel more satisfied in the end! I hope this helps!

another thing to keep in mind is that even though you want to please your teacher, never forget that you dance for yourself and for no one else. you dance to make yourself proud of what you have become, and no matter what happens at that recital, you gave your all and did the best that you could possibly do. dont stress about it. leave room for improvement and just give it everything youve got! =]

once you get out there and start dancing youll be fine youll forget about you nerves and just have fun with it<33

I dance too! It is always good to be a little nervous. IT helps you to not mess up! Everything will go well. I PROMISE!

Try taking a nice warm bubble bath!!

just TRY as hard as you can and...stay calm...clear everything out of you head...don't worry about what ur teacher thinks...just worry about what u think...and some hints about dancing on stage are:
1. don't look at the audience...just look at the sound booth or something...or just keep ur eyes where they should be (following ur arms and stuff)
2. FEEL THE MUSIC

It sounds like you have stage fright, i act and every time i go on stage no matter how many times i do it i still have stage fright, so it's perfectly normal... but here's some tips on how to overcome it.

Just don't stress about it. I know this sounds hard, but try doing relaxing things. I drink some water, stretch, and listen to my Ipod before rehearsals or performances. It helps calm me down. About 15-30 minutes before the dance, run through it or go through it in your head. After that just don't think about it or you'll psyche yourself out. You might think you are forgeting it and need to practice, but just calm down and let your hours of practice in class pay off instead of your last minute cramming.
