Question:My little sister is 5 years old, I have been helping her with her ballet. The owner of our studio said she is good enough to start point. Is it possible for a girl that young to start? I didn't start until I was 10.

change schools immediately. if she starts pointe now, her feet will be deformed and painful for the rest of her life. the pressure of her body weight on her toes while they are growing causes the bones to chage shape and ossify incorrectly. it will cause lifelong damage and she will never dance again, she would be lucky to walk. even 10 years old is young for pointe work, but if the girl is phisically matured enough it may be ok. if the actual owner of the school is saying this, there is something very very wrong. do not continue classes there and do not take any advice. it may sound like im over reacting but ballet can be so dangerous to get wrong. although check the owner did actually say that, if your sis said it she may have made it up because she wants to be more like you. check she doesnt secretly try on your pointes herself when youre out. keep helping her though it sounds like you are a wonderful sister!
and they probably dont have pointe shoes small enough to fit her anyway!

DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT LET HER DO POINT! Your sister's feet are still growing, and unless you want her to have crippled/messed up feet when she is older, wait until she is at least 11, or until her feet have stopped growing. Toe shoes are incredibly tight and compact, and it does not matter how amazing a dancer she is. If she begins point now, the toe shoes will stunt the growth of her feet.

absolutely not.
putting a girl on point at a young age ruins their feet.
the dancer's foot is still growing and if put on point to young, as they grow older they will get bunions and have to have surgery. i know this because, i was put on point at the age of 9 and someday, i'm going to have that surgery where my bone will be shaved down and then a pin will be stuck in my foot put my toe back in place. i will be off my feet for 6 months. putting a 5 year old on point is the stuipest thing i have ever heard. you obvisouly don't know anything about ballet.

DANGEROUS
dont let her .
move studios
this could permanently ruin her feet. !!

WHAT??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

No, no, no, no, no, noooooooooooooooooooo. Do not let her go on pointe untill she is AT LEAST 11 years of age. Putting her onto pointe at the age of 5 years old is incredibly stupid and dangerous.

OMG!!!! no! It is so bad to start that early. She hasnt even grown all the muscles in her foot yet. She could really hurt herslef. It would be so bad if she did. It could damage her feet for life. Some people even say 8 is too young. I personally dont think so. But 5 is crazy. dont let her start.

NO WAY! If she did, she wouldn't be able to dance that long because of the permanent damage it would do to her feet! I can't believe her teacher is saying that! I don't care how good her technique is! I think you need to change her school immediately. Talk to your mom and tell her that it is very unsafe. At 5, she is too young to even decide for herself, and if you did it, she would very much regret it when she got older. We're talking about some major damage!

obvioulsy you dont go to a good dance school coz
1. your teacher doesnt know what they are doing by puttingher on pointe this early- i was 12
2. no-one that young could be ready for pointe - there bones havent grown enough and body and her feet will be mangled forever!
3. i think that you should refuse her to go on pointe - and they probably wont even have her size

It's possible...but not smart at all.

Well that's great, she must be really good! But I don't think it's a good idea to start that early. I think the age where it is safe to start at about 9 or 10 at the least. Good luck! : )

she has more skills than u shes talented stop hating
