Question:I just started a ballet class and im sooooooooooooooo embarressed i took a four month class at the community college and did pretty well but they didnt make us do the splits. my new teacher put me in a advanced class but not to advanced.... (its a regular ballet class now) Tells us to do the splits and Im the ONLY 1 WHO CANT DO IT!!!!! i also need help lifting my leg so its straight next to my head PLZ HELP i really want to get this down since all the girls in my class are younger than me!!!! Im so embarressed when she tells us to do the splits......and i cant keep my leg straight for more than 20 second :[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ im soooooooooooooooo embarresed PLZ PLZ PLZ HELP!!!!!

If you lie on the floor and put your bum up against the wall and let your legs fall out this will stretch the muscles you need to do the splits

same here. I'm in an advanced jazz class and in our dance we had to do the splits! i was the only one who couldn't do it! practice everyday whenever u have spare time. and like the answer before do it on a wall. it tends to help. just keep stretching and practicing! thats the only way. everyone esle in ur class had to learn to do the splits too and the only way they did it was to practice.

Before you stretch warm up by running on the spot or around the block jog. Remember muscels stretch better when they are warm. A great stretch is if you just lunge down on one leg hold that for 5 minutes. This question had the best answer check it out!!! obviously you know to stretch alot but you also can try this..
get into the split position as far as you can go stay there and tighen all of your muscles for 10 seconds and realise you will slowly lower and if you do that everyday. you will get them i promiss it helped me i got mine in a week and i wasnt very close! also you can try this..put your back toward the wall and bend down like your tuching your toes and lift one leg up and place it on the wall pull yourself closer to the wall while in the posititon. pull yourself closer and closer for as long as you can. also helps for exstentions.
