I think you'd be surprised who you'd meet at a dance class at a good studio honey! Unless you plan on trying out for a huge performing ballet company - it has nothing to do with your size! Weight or height!!!! Dancing is for people who FEEL the music, not just listen to it. Know what I mean? If you want to learn, go take a class! Most of the dancers I know, including myself and my daughters, don't judge because we are all in it for the love of dance, not to look like something we aren't!
Good Luck Sweetie! It's all you girl!

no

Yes, start out at home first, and when you get skinnier, you can go to a class.

No you're fine, you'll lose more wieight.

My girlfriend is 6.1 and she is 125lbs... she is 20.... she still dances ballet, there is nothing to worry about... I am 5.9, so she is taller than me... I'd say go ahead with it and not be embarressed at all...

You can attend lessions or teach yourself privately. Weight is not that much a factor in ballet, flexability is. No matter how skinny you are, if you don't have the flexable curve, you cannot do the moves.

When I was younger, I was 150 and 5'9" and pretty slim, so I'm assuming you aren't fat, and I was 13.

Most people think that you have to be skinny to do ballet, but I honestly can tell you that if you want to do something, go a head and do it, don't look at other people because they will prevent you from fulfilling your dream.

It depends how serious you are about it. If you fancy teaching yourself ballet for fun then go ahead, it doesn't matter how big boned or tall you are. If you are wanting to take this up for a living you are too late I'm afraid. Ballet dancers start their training from a very young age. As they grow up their bodies develop certain muscles that are eventually required in the art of ballet. Your body will already have developed and it would take years of hard work trying to change and develop the muscles that you will not have. Ballet dancers start from age 4 onwards. But go for it, ballet is fantastic and excellent for fitness. You just must realise that you will never be able to be a ballet dancer at this late stage (especially through self teaching). Join a dance school, there are many other various styles of dance that you can enjoy.

Yes you should teach yourself. I do ballet so if you want I can give you tips. First of all, you always need to point your toes, so that your exersizing your calf muscel. First, start out learning the 8 directions of the body. Then you should learn Peacays and shaneys. Just follow the books instructions. If you aren't sure if your doing something right, then don't do it because all the basics lead up to the advanced stuff. If you do the basics wrong, then you won't be able to move up and do something harder.

you don't sound fat - by your height -
but most ballerinas seem to be small or rather petite

You are a great Height and weight!

Everyone is self conscience at 14 so don't worry about it.
You will grow out of that.

You can learn anything you put yourself to learn.
As you get better on your own you will feel better about possibly dancing in front of others and maybe in the future you can take some classes.

Check out in your local area for free classes, Some dance studios offer a free class or two. Maybe Ymca has some or very cheap too.

Good Luck

I think the reason ballet dancers are usually very short/petite and slender is so the male dancers can lift them etc. If you want to do ballet.....you should! Yes you are taller and bigger (not fat) than the typical ballerina but who cares. Have fun with it. It will be good for your fitness and you will learn something new. Good luck ;)

You are not two fat but it will take you a long time with a lot of hard work to be a very good dancer. Most dancer start when they start to walk. Dancing cost a lot of money and when you get older those muscles that you haven't used becomes fabby. What you need to do is to become flexable. DO Straddles, butterflies, attitudes, kicks, and learn the postions. Thats what I suggest. Dancing has people of all sizes.
