yes, that's where i bought my flat ballet shoes for a couple years when i first started. if she continues dancing, and gets better, you will need better shoes. my fave dance company is discount dance. awesome stuff, at awesome prices. here's a link for kids shoes from the company. much better than payless, but it doesn't matter. either is fine. typ in the keycode 2030C for a good pair for her.

They are fine - but in the recital her shoes will be different than the others - plus if you buy the brand from the dance school they will look better and last longer.

Hi,
Sure, Payless (and target) shoes are fine for a young child's ballet and tap dancing. When she gets older and more serious about dancing, go to your local dance shop and purchase specialized dancing shoes. If her shoes get worn out, most ballet shops have a skin color or black polish for shoes. I don't think that many parents will go buy expensive shoes for their four year olds, so don't worry, she will probably have the same as everybody else!
Good luck!
Hope this has helped.

okay, if she needs leather ballet shoes, payless is out of the question. their shoes are composite, which consists of mostly plastic with a small amount of low quality leather blended in.

if you have no access to a dancewear store, check out discountdance.com or www.lynchs.com. they both ship world wide.

most definitly okay
tap shoes are probably not a good idea for a preschooler from Payless
but those are definitly appropriate especially if she or he is just trying out.
capezio has really good child tap shoes along with bloch

The problem about dance shoes from payless, is that is it no double soled at the bottom making it hard to get those little tiny toes moving around. They are also very VERY stiff. I wouldnt suggest it. Try going online to www.capezio.com that has been the best place to get any type of dance shoe from the best brands. They may get quite pricey, but its all worth it. Hope that helps.
