Position:Home>Dancing> Ballet Classes (Boston)?

Question:I've been a little ballet obsessed ever since I was little. I took jazz and gymnastics classes, to prepare me, or something, then when my family moved to the Boston area, where we are now, I enrolled at the Boston Ballet school. I took that class from ages 5-8, but I was forced to quit when my dad lost his job , and we could no longer afford it (don't worry, we're stable now). Now I'm almost 14, and for these past six years, I have been desperate to get back into classes.

I feel like if there's one thing I'm supposed to do in my lifetime, it's to dance.

My questions:

Is it possible to re-enroll in classes at the Boston Ballet?
If not The Boston Ballet, does anyone know other places I could enroll?
What age/group would I be put into?
I walk on my toes naturally, should I stop this before I start classes?
Every time I try to talk to my parents about this, they say maybe, and the topic never comes up again. How do I get my point across that I really want to do this?

Thanks!

If you really want to get back into dance, I would avoid the Boston Ballet. Yes, you can re-enroll, but they are expensive and the classes are huge. To catch up, after taking a few years off, try taking classes at a more intimate studio.

If you want classes taught by world class, proffesional dancers try the Dance Complex. It is right in the city, and you can register, or pay per class. Because they allow walk-in classes, you won't loose money if you can't go one week. You would be taking classes with dancers of all levels, including proffesionals, and the teachers are some of the same Boston Ballet has, plus even more. You can take ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, flamenco, African, salsa, tap and much more for about $12 a class.

If a traditional studio is more to your liking, try Jeanette Neil. Her studio is amazing. You have to audition, but that is just to be placed in the correct level.

The Commonwealth Ballet is similar to Jeanette Neil, but also like Jeanette Neil and Boston Ballet, they will be a bit expensive.

Additionally, outside of the city, there is Acton School of Ballet, in Acton, Moving Arts (which teaches the Royal Academy of Ballet syllabus) in Harvard, and Lexington School of Ballet in Lexington, among many others.

Hope that helped, and keep dancing. Trust me, you can take time off from dance and go back to dancing, I did. Good luck!

go for your dreams! i love dance too!
