~For pointe you need strong ankles, but regular ballet will strengthen your ankles. I wouldn't worry about it if you are just starting, but know it will take awhile before your ankles are ready for pointe
~Ballet can get expensive, but it doesn't have to be. For a beginner, a pair of ballet slippers will probably cost less than $60 and will last you all year. Pointe shoes can cost a lot more and need to be replaced more often, so take that into consideration. Also, different studios charge different amounts. My studio charges $50 a month for a one hour weekly class, but this isn't the case for all studios.
~If you are just doing it for fun or exercise, you don't really have to practice outside of class, though I still recommend that you stretch daily. If you are more serious, you would want to do ankle strengthening exercises at home every day that you aren't dancing to help you get stronger. If you are really serious, you will probably have classes everyday, therefore it wouldn't be necessary to practice at home.

If you are just now starting, it shouldn't be too expensive and you won't have to practice that much. If you want to become a professional dancer though, you should set up a meeting with your dance studio's director and make a plan for how many classes you will take this year and in upcoming years. Being a pro requires many more hours at the studio, as well as many more pairs of shoes and lots of summer intensives, auditions, and rehearsals.

I hope I helped! Don't feel discouraged because ballet is a great way to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and gracefulness. Have fun and good luck ( :

Yes, having weak ankles may be a problem. You would be more vulnerable to injuries of the ankle. Ballet lessons are pretty expensive, depending on how professional the place is. I usually have ballet 6 to 7 times a week. Usually on weekdays 4:30-9:00 and on weekends 9:30-5:00.

it wont be for just ballet..as you move through ballet you will become stronger and stronger. i was strong before but now im soo much stronger and ive only takin ballet lessons since october/november.. although i took ballet before but not for many years.. and it really depends on where you take them at my studio it is 300 dollars for sept-june so thats 10 months about 30 dollars a month and the costumes for us cost about 55$ and my dance studio gets the tights, leotards, and ballet shoes for us and they dont cost that much really.. and it is up to you how many dance lessons you want to take a week i only take one at the studio a week but i go over most of the things we do everyday when i have time.. i hope that helps =]

i am an experianced dancer of 13 years. weak ankles may be a problem, but if you keep dancing they will eventually strengthen. just start out slow and keep doing releves. they will really help to strengthen them.

ballet lessons, depending on where and how much, can be expensive. my dance school, which i own, offers 1 hr. classes to the younger kids (4-8 yrs.) and 2 hr. classes for older kids (9-17 yrs.). there are different types that you can take though from intro to pointe. pointe is the most expensive classes though. so my school charges $40 per 1 hr. class and $50 per 2 hr. class. If you are on pointe, an additional $30 is added to your charge which can add up sometimes. to some people that may be expensive but to others it is nothing. it depends how you look at it. most schools add a cost for point, others don't.

i would say when i wasnt a dance teacher that i took ballet monday (2hr), wednesday (2hr), and thursday (4hr). every other day i would be teaching or assisting classes at my old dance school.

i hope this helps and hope you enjoy ballet!
