When I got my pointe shoes, I simply sewed it using thread and needle. I sewed each ribbon on the inside of the shoe, right by the foot hole, at the seam line running up from the sole of the foot to where the top of your foot would be (roughly midway on the shoe's length). If you're worried about putting a needle hole in the shoe, you shouldn't. Yes it will pierce the satin, but it won't "rip" ir or damage it in any significant way. You need those ribbons on there! That's more important than a tiny hole no one will see standing a foot away from you. If you still have concerns, definitely ask your teacher or another pointe dancer at your school. :)

If you are just starting pointe you should probably ask your instructor. All studios are different. SORRY!

You have to sew them. You sew the elastic onto the back, and the ribbons onto the side. You should really ask your teacher if you don't know. And they're not shoestrings, they're ribbons and elastic. And their won't be a hole in your pointe shoes. It's like sewing the elastics on your ballet slippers.

i am not really sure b/c my instructor sews all of my things: costumes, shoes, etc. because she favors me so she offers to do it all for me. but im almost positive that you put your foot in the shoe and sew the ribbon right below the ankle bone that sticks out on either sides of your feet.
