Hey, Im also 13 and in 8th grade. I've been dancing for around 2 or 3 years. What the judges will expect at the dance tryouts is flexibility and technique. I would recommend that you look for a gym around your neighborhood that offers technique lessons. It will really help you out in the long run. :D good luck!

Well first of all you should start taking like really dance lessons .If you want to be a dancer you never intens dance trainig... that will help A LOT better than teaching yourself.. you should totally consider joining the dance team because its a good expeirience.. and its fun. Just remember alot of people want to be dancers and singers but it doesnt always work out, thats a very harsh job so make sure you keep your options open icase your dream doesnt come true.. Hope everything turns out the way you plan:)

Okay,Cookie,stick with me...
Are you saying that you've suddenly discovered a love of performing? If so, that's a good thing and I'm glad you made the choice. Now,as to what's expected of you.In dance,it would be wise for you to have a solid ballet teqchnique because, not only will it strengthen your for all the other dicsipilines(jazz, modern, tap)it'll give you something you'll carry with you the rest f your life.Physical grace. No,you won't be required to do flips and hadsprings, but,if you want to learn,go ahead! No,cheerleading, while dance-oriented,isn't quite same thing.I would suggest you run quick like a bunny to a dance studio near you,ask an insrtuctor what would be your next step and take it from there

well even if you make mistakes during ur tryout you cant say "UGH! I MESSED UP!" dont do anything dat'll make it obvious. and one VERY helpful tip: KEEP SMILING EVEN THO U THINK IT'S OVER. i was like OFF timing, and i never stoped smiling and ges wat? im in da team! and dey dont always look for flexibility you know. but you might wanna take dance lessons if you want.
