When we were competing our studio ran sessions totally about diet, the information came from a nutritionist.
You need to eat a healthy well balanced diet most of the time. If you need to lose weight then reduce fat and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Leading up to competitions you need to eat more carbs for a couple of days, good carbs not junk. Pasta with tomato based sauce and veggies, rice, and veggies like potatoes. Don't have fries or chips etc. On the day of a competition you need slow energy release (low GI) foods. An ideal breakfast would be porridge with sultanas and honey or wholemeal toast with honey. Eat healthy at the comp too, little at a time. Lollies are okay at the comp too for bursts of energy on the floor.
If you really want to lose weight in a hurry you can try no carbs but I don't recommend it leading up to competitions or if you have a really heavy training schedule as it doesn't leave you with a lot of energy. It does help lose the weight but you tend to put it all back on if your not careful.

One doesnt exist sorry. But lots of dancer literally only drink water and eat apples. Dont ever do that since you wont be getting lots of essential proteins, carb or minerals

I can eat anything that i want but the secret is portion. I eat only enough to feel satisfied...not full. Eat whenever you feel hungry (not when you crave something). Mind you i dont eat anything OVERLY greasy. Yet i dont skip out on the fats since they are essential. Eat a variety of everything. People who say you dont need carbs at all are wrong. However dont make them ur main course. Most of the things i eat are organic. By organic i dont mean things that are LABELED by the USDA. I actually go to the farm and i see how they do things to ensure they are truly organic bc anyone can pay off the USDA. I cook them in a bit oil (u can use any oil as long as its not unrefined, organic and no added "stuff"). You can always use spices to liven anything up. Boiling stuff is not as healthy as you think bc all the nutrients escape in the vapor. However if you add a bit of oil this ensure they're not lost. I dont see why ppl are so against fats, counting that our brain is mostly fat. If we dont eat them our brain struggles. Also eat proteins, (again eat any organic meat but control portion). Dont just eat the meat, try to eat a bit of the skin (believe me it takes a while to get used to), start chewing on the bones (took me a while). You wouldnt believe how much calcium there is. Half of the reason why asian ppl are so healthy (and look it) is bc they're not picky. Stay away from anything that comes pre-packaged (from cheetos to healthy choice) or anything that doesnt seem homemade. It will take a lot of will but the rewards are greater. So in all...cook your own food.

You dont need to eat during exercise. It will take longer for your body to digest it b/c its worrying more about the issue at hand (exercising). You can try it, but you'll see when you try to go to the restroom. Also eat 2 hrs before any dance competition/rehearsal. This ensures that digestion is almost done and therefore it wont be a problem while dancing. Of course have a vowel movement before rehearsing/competing. This ensures that any "extra weight" is gone. Also you need to drink water because if you are a professional you lose 3x as much water dancing. Water: not soda no pre-bottled juices no....water! If u feel like juices then buy oranges and juicer and do it yourself. (or any other kind of fruit for that matter). But try to do mostly water. Good luck and hope this helped.

There is a book called Dancers Diet. You can find it on amazon or other book sellers. Its really great! Lots of healty info and food ideas.

There isn't a Ballroom Dancer's diet. Most of us remain in shape from participating in this sport and other physical activities. I wound up not being able to dance for several months after an injury and gained almost 10 lbs! I hadn't changed anything in my diet, but gained the weight due to sudden inactivity. And yes, it's a whole lot harder to lose than than gain!!!

Please don't try to lose weight "like crazy." It won't work. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about eating right and weight loss. I would suggest you do some research (other than the answers you receive - and some of them are good). One of my fave books is by Dr Oz, You - On a Diet. You can probably find this at your library.

Good luck to you!
