Do not, I repeat, do not buy shoes from payless, wlamart, etc. The ballet shoes are lined vynal, therefor they rip within a few classes. Go to a local dance shop and have her fitted. For tap, she will need tie-taps, whichever colour the studio wants. Capezio and Leo's come in wides, she'll probably go up half to a full size from street shoe. ballet slippers run EXTREMELY small in little one's sizes, so don't be surpised if she goes up 2 whole sizes. Again, I strongly suggest capezio daisey (model 205) for her. Full sole, leather, very durable, cheap to replace if she has a growth spurt.

bloch and spotlight is actually the best type in ballet and tap. but i am using bloch.i am a ballet teacher.

For a first shoe like that, I'd just go to Payless Shoesource. They have both shoes, made for the beginner, and they don't cost all that much. In a few years, if your daughter is still in dance, get her higher quality shoes.
