Position:Home>Dancing> Are flat feet a setback for pointe?

Question:This is my first year of pointe, and I'm trying very hard but I just can't seem to get it. I use Theraband on my feet everyday, but what could be wrong? I have flat feet so I'm wondering if that could be a setback for pointe. Does anyone know?

I have the flattest feet on earth, like barney rubble flat, and I've danced for 22 years. Successfully, I should add!

Work on really getting over your box in the shoe. Someone is going to say that you can change your arches, you can't. The theraband will help to keep the toes in alignment and stretch the arch so you dont cramp up, but the actual arch movement of the foot is in the tarsals and upper foot.

no im in point if u think ur flat footed the get dc.shols gel in serters or dont were flats

This is not true. In fact, you can become very advanced on pointe, it doesn't matter about your foot type. If you work with your instructor or teacher and work alot harder, you will get better, don't worry. Hope this helps!

it might make it harder but one of my friends has flat feet and is a beautiful dancer on pointe. just keep working you feet and make sure you get good pointe shoes. it might be a little harder at first but once you get it, it'll get easier. pointe is hard to start in the first place.

Nope not at all, actaully I've heard that people with big arches have a harder time on pointe then people with flat feet. So you should be thankful. :)

you need to work on ur arches more

just keep working that Theraband, had work will pay off, your feet will get stronger, thus less flatfooted!
