No rhythm?

Question:I have NO rhythm...
&& My boyfriend dance really really good...
&& We have a dance coming up...
I dont want to tell him I cant dance...
Any advice or tips...
or am I doomed???

everyone has rhythm Hun, it's just some people are more aware then others.

i teach street dance to kids 5 to 16 years....most start at 5 but some have joined at 15 years. they like you , are convinced they have 'no rhythm' but in fact with time they show excellent skills.
firstly...silly it sounds...you have to do the following...
start on your own, in a comfortable place, so your not embarrassed by others.
choose a CD..anything you like and recognise and stand in a space in the room.
close your eyes and listen to the music....you need to hear the base beat that runs throughout the track. slowly when ready start to either tap your hands on your sides or tap your feet.
carry on though the whole track JUST doing this.
then do it again..... making sure that your hands/feet are in time with the beat......
told you it's silly BUT it really works
once you've mastered this you have the basis or rhythm. next you use your body.
start again as before on the second time start to gently swing you hips side to side, again to the beat, then try this while tapping your feet.
it will all come together quickly and the better you get the more confidence you'll gain x
remember, stay loose (not stiff like a board) and smile......i can say 100% hun that on the night when your there, most other people will feel the same and it's confidence in your self and your smile that will make you stand out...not the amount of pops and twists you can do.
