You might want to look into Oklahoma City University and University of the Arts. OCU's program is specifically designed to focus on popular, commercial dance styles. UArts has a triple-track program in which Jazz and Modern are their strongest areas. But I don't think your concept of Modern dance is the same. My guess is that you're using it to mean "current" and "new," and not along the lines of Martha Graham, Mark Morris, William Forsythe, etc. In any case, UArts students tend to have the same concept of dance as you in liking ballet the least and coming mostly from a competition dance environment.

Juilliard is for students who wish to be classically trained and would NOT be for you: no hip hop, no lyrical, and very little jazz. Their focus is on artistic concert dance, not commercial dance.

The best dance college is Julliard. :)
But it is very hard to get into, and expensive.
Not anybody can get into it. :)
