The thin with ballet is that sometimes it has to be quality over quantity, which it sounds like you understand. Focus on making a pretty grand jete without bringing the legs as high up. I did the same thing growing up, I can oversplit no problem, but I still have to make a very conscious effort about making ym back elg look good! Work on getting the form nice, even if your front leg is only going to 45 degrees! Gradually work on adding height as you learn to maintain the form. A good plie will always help!
I do find its easier to get into a nice jump in saut de chat as opposed to grand jete, and for those of us cursed with a bent back eg, we're pros at split half devils! Unfortunately, choreography rarely allows that, especially in a group, so take it step by step!

Lots of practice!.
No, but in all seriousness. To get more height, plie more so you push off the ground.
For the back leg, focus on that more than you focus on your front leg. Sit in splits and get the feeling for how your legs are supposed to be.
I'll get you links as soon as i find a comparison.

just streatch your legs

I recommend to practice a lot and to stretch your splits more so your leap will be nice and split. To stretch you could put one leg on a small raised platform and leg gravity pull you down, it is a good stretch. You could also think about leaping over something to get more height, that will also give you more time to straighten your legs all the way.

here is a good link to a video of a woman who dances at my ballet school, she is a professional dancer, her leaps are amazing.

hope this helps, good luck

stretch for the long term. for the short term, think of the grand jete as a big glissade front. in other words, make sure to BRUSH your front leg as it is coming through, and push off your back leg off almost immediately feeling completely stretched. this will make it look like you have more airtime instead of a sometimes awkward looking weight shift that makes your whole upper body go back and then front as you take off and land.
