I prefer dance because I'm a dancer.
At my high school backhandsprings are not required, but if you can do any stunts you def. have a better chance of making it. The cheer squad makes and practices new cheers, makes signs for games, play team building games, practice stunts, and learn their dances which are normally basic jazz or hip hop moves with lots of stunts and cheer moves, and stretches.
The dance team (Im on JV but we have a varsity) stretches, works on some technique, and learns or practices dances. It involves a lot more actual exercise than cheerleading (during practices) because you are dancing and moving more.

For both you need the basic techniques. Also, showmanship is a must!!! Have a great smile, good facials, and always look confident.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy your choice! Happy 2008 ( :

Depends! if your in high school and you don't know how to do the basics your out!

The dance squad typically does more sophisticated routines. C'mon babycakes, go for that!

yea it depends wheather you school makes you have the basics our cheer team doesnt but to be able to made the highschool cheer team you have to have it on the dance team you have to have GOOD technique(or at least at my school) at my school dance works so much harder than cheer
