Position:Home>Dancing> The Rumba?

Question:I had to do the rumba last year, I had the video on youtube.
I though I saved it to my favorites, but I can't find it.

Does anyone know any instructional videos?

I have to do it for an exam.

All I remember was that they explained what to do and the woman was wearing black. If that helps, unless someone can give me a better video. ;]

Well, Dance Vision has a lot of instructional videos on both American and International styles of rumba....from beginning
dancers to the advanced competitor.

ExpertVillage.com also has how-to videos on some of the basic rumba steps.

I assume that you are doing the American rumba (also known as "American Rhythm" rumba).

There are other aspects of these rumba styles you need to know....Both styles of rumba have the characteristic Latin hip motion, but the type of hip motion technique is different.....

American Rumba
Weight is taken on a bent leg.

International Rumba
Weight is usually taken on a straight leg.

Both styles will have New Yorkers (or crossovers), Spot Turns, and Hand-to-Hands, as well as Rumba Walks.

Only International Rumba has the Fan and the Hockey Stick
(both bronze-level figures).

And finally, basic timing in the styles are different.

International Rumba: 2 3 4-1
American Rumba: 1-2 3 4

International focuses on the "2" as the strong beat, while
American has the "1" as the strong beat.

Good luck on your rumba exam...
