Position:Home>Dancing> That ballet thing where you stand on your tippy toes- how do you begin to learn

Question:As you can see, I have no knowledge when it comes to terms and dance. I was just wondering how you learn how to do that, what you need to do to learn it, what it's called... I think it'd be a cool thing to learn : ) Also, what would you need to learn to be able to spin on your tippy toes in this ballet fashion a couple times? haha.

It's called Pointe and is done by girls who have spent hours and hours of lessons in Ballet. Girls usually begin pointe from the ages off 11-15. You have to have strong ankles and legs to do it and with the permission of your teacher.

To learn it, I would recommend regular Ballet classes for a minimum of 2-3 years. After this period of time you should have the feel of the technique and have a strong enough body.

Pointe is difficult and painful and it requires a lot of hard work.

As for the turns-more work, technique and classes. It's just a matter of keeping your balance and using a technique called 'spotting'.

Hope this helps :)
