Since you have the flexibility to go into a backbend, then your not far! But its a different amount of time for different people to get back walkovers...they're hard!!

If you think about it, you do need to have strong legs, but you also have to have a very strong stomach and lower back to flip the weight of your legs over.

Some exercises for those body parts are situps, leg lifts (while lying on your back), holding planks( which are similar to the push up position, but you support your weight with your forearms, not hands), and for your back- lay on your stomach and slowly bring one leg up untill you feel your back working. Hold it there for about 8 seconds, then bring it back down SLOWLY.

I've never been a cheerleader, so I'm not sure, but if the team dances a lot, then maybe you wont need to do back handsprings! I say try out, and good luck!!

Before you learn how to do that you need to build your leg muscles, so they can support your body weight.

hunny my best advice would be to strengthen your leg muscles and have someone help you...i was a cheerleading coaches for years and to help my girls learn to do back-walkovers i would always spot them and once they were in their backbend flip their legs over for them until they could do it themselves just keep practicing and I'm sure you'll get it!~good luck=]
