Question:Hi! i am indeed a dancer with not so great leg extensions. and everyone is telling me to stretch your extensions with those giant rubberband things! i do actually have them and i was wondering how do i use them to develop the muscle used for extensions and how to increase flexibility using them! thanks everyone!

After you've increased your flexibility, you need to build up your strength, which is mostly in your thighs. The most effective way to do this is to developpe your leg, either front, side, or arabesque, and make sure that your alignment is correct. It's more important that both your supporting leg and the raised leg are turned out and your shoulders are over your hips before you worry about how high your leg is. Once your placement is correct, hold your leg in that position, starting with about eight seconds. Each day, you should hold it a few seconds longer. It's important that you think of extending your leg muscles, rather than gripping them, otherwise you'll just bulk up your thighs. Hope this helps!

You put the opposite leg underneath the leg you are stretching around the thigh area, get the band and grab it at the ends with both hands

Stretch the band just underneath the ball of your foot and keep it there, have your foot upwards

Extend the leg you want to stretch outwards in front of you with the opposite leg still underneath and your foot still upwards

Pull on the band to bring your top half forward towards your extended leg's toes...don't force it, let your body stretch and you will get futher and further every day until your are able to touch your toes
