Position:Home>Dancing> Ballet??????

Question:Ok. I'm not aiming to be a pro or anything but I was wondering: could I get really good at ballet even at my age? I'm 15 and have been taking little, just-for-fun ballet classes here and there since I was 3. Nothing intense, but I really love it and want to get into the "real" thing! I've heard that you have to start intense training young to get good and flexible but if I'm willing to put in hard work and practice a lot, could I do it?? Thanks and Merry Christmas! =)

well...just to let ya know...i started ballet when i was 13 and i was in a beginners pointe class 4months after i started...so it is possible...i believe that age has nothing to do with dancing, its just ur talent and passion that affects how u dance...now..im not very flexible and i cant even do a split, but going from no flexibility at all to where i am now, 6inches above the floor from doin a spilt, it just takes a lot of time and effort to be a good/great dancer and u have to practice like crazy. and yes the beginners pointe/ballet class will be a lil monotonous with all the ankle strengthening, but u will eventually become a good dancer only if u have the time and passion to devote to it, i say go for it.

Some people go to preforming art school, but it dosn't always work that way. Like sometimes your dance studio offers you a job or something.

ya! i'm a ballerina 2, and i dont wanna go pro or w/e, but my teacher always tells us (the whole company) that not just anyone can be a pro, it takes a special person.
if ure really commited, then it can serisouly happen! but it's a though dance world out there. u have 2 b a though cick 2 survive! u can be a pro @ ure age, but it's very unlikely. i mean, u have 2 finish school and then go 2 collage and learn more about dance. and if u wanna go pro rite now, u have 2 start intense rite now. go 2 ballet camp (Milwakey ballet, or something like that is a ballet summer camp) and u have 2 have several teachers, not just one. u learn more with many teachers, and it's discipline 2! idk. w/e ure heart says u should do, do it! follow ure dreams. it's possible!

The answer is maybe. It all depends on your body type, talent (the ultimate deciding factor), drive, and quality of education. You will need to spend a lot of time on your feet, several hours per week at a good school. You can also benefit from summer intensive classes put on by one of several national ballet companies like Joffrey, ABT etc. Good luck.

i think that if you practise really hard and stay committed, then you could do it :-)

I started ballet when i was 17 and have been doing it for 2 years now. From not having done any dancing to being put into the advanced class doing pirouettes withing 1/2 a year of starting. If you keep at it you'll pick it up real quick.
