Position:Home>Dancing> Is it possible to dance the tango solo?

Question:Mainly, you can dance tango alone for doing solo practice.
But there are three types of tango you can do solo practice on. It depends on which styles of tango that you are comfortable with.

If you are doing International tango, you can practice alone to work on your Big Top Line (that is, the area between the head and the chest). Make sure that your dance frame in the Big Top Line is still unless you want to change dance positions, especially from Closed Hold to Promenade Position and the reverse. If preparing for a competition where you will do International Tango with a partner, you need dramatic facial expression practice....even if you don't practice with your partner. Paso doble requires this expression but in tango it is slightly less important only, because International style tango music is almost like a paso doble--a march. But this tango is a march in 4 (and a paso doble is a march in 2).

If doing American Smooth tango, you can work on things like the 3-fan combination, or even the tango basic step (Think--
"T.....A.....N G O" all the way. Remember "Mad Hot Ballroom"?).

If doing Argentine tango you can practice on your figure eights and those kick-flicks known as the "ganchos" (or "hooks").

If you have contemporary or modern dance experience, you can do a solo tango to music like "Santa Maria" by the Gotan Project.

Hope all of this helps. And I hope I had helped you just a little bit....

Probably not , and it would not be much fun either

anything is possible

NOPE!!! as the old saying goes ....

IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO

Yes it is. But only to make it more romantic. but tango is also known for speed.

You can dance alone doing tango steps, and you can practice alone, but I'd have to agree with the above. It takes two to tango.

... or more, in "The Tango Lesson". Hmm... maybe you can, if it's more a feel or style.

It's almost the same question as "Can you have sex solo?"
