I'm not really sure how to answer that. I've been dancing since I was seven and they had us in soft and hard shoes from the beginning. I suppose that I must have fallen quite a bit, but once you wear down the shoes a little that doesn't happen nearly as often. I don't think it will take that long since most of the dances are variations of simple shuffles and jumps. If you practice those a lot, you should be able to master anything else they give you.

I don't do Irish anymore because my teacher moved away, but we learned it at the same time as we learned soft shoe. I was little and I don't remember having a hard time learning, just tht it was really fast.
