Position:Home>Dancing> What is the best gel pad for pointe shoes? (don't look at the other one)?

Question:ok. I just got new pointe shoes and I HAVE gel pads but they aren't very comfortable. So what kind should I get? And what brand? Are they pricey?

Also, how do you stop the ends of your ribbons from fraying?

P.S. the next time i get pointe shoes, where should I put the elastics and ribbons?

PLZ HELP!!!

I like these ones that are white and have gel on one side and fabric on another. Go to discountdance.com to look at an assortment of different gel pads. They're not very pricey.

To get ends of ribbons to stop fraying, VERY CAREFULLY use a lighter or match and just skim the edges of the ribbon with the flame, it should not make it brown, just clear and a little hard.

Sow the elastics a little farther back than your ankle bone. Ribbons sow a little bit in front of your anke bone.

Good luck =]
to stop the ribbons from fraying you can lightly burn the edges of them. i dont use gel pads because i dont like them, but loose lambs wool in a sock works good for me. it all depends on your feet. you might want to go to the dance store and try on a couple different kinds of pads and stuff, and you may even want to try on a different shoe. it all depends on your foot.
Ouch pouches work well, or just lambs wool. Make sure to get some tape too. I only use lambs wool, and it's not that great, but it's all we're allowed to use!

STOP YOUR RIBBONS FRAYING!! I had this problem too, and DO NOT BURN THEM!!!!! The EASIEST, is to just brush the ends with a clear nail polish and it's EASY and SIMPLE! IT works SO well!
