Is it difficult to learn ballroom dancing from an instructional DVD?

Is it difficult to learn ballroom dancing from an instructional DVD?

I'm not a professional dancer but would like to learn simple ballroom dancing. How helpful will a DVD lesson be? I don't want to spend too much on an instructor.

that's the best way to start.
dvd is for later on when you
want to fix details or if you just want to watch.
It's hard to imagine where you are on
the floor from watching TV.
and of course you need a partner.
and a group class will let you switch partners
and mingle too.
