Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I started high school band with a clarinet. It was my mom's idea and I played fairly well-1st or 2nd chair Although I liked it, a friend had given me a saxophone, a Mark 5 or 7, I can't remember, and I had secretly been teaching myself how to play in the practice rooms before class. I went to UIL ( competetion) for both clarinet & saxophone I scored a 2 for the clarinet and a 1 for the sax. When my band teacher found out that I was a better sax player, I started playing the sax in band.
