Question:

Was "Beyond Good and Evil" an interesting read?

I'm trying to get my hands on this book. From a philosophical point of view, was it enlightening? Interesting? Worth Friedrich Nietzsche's time in writing it, at least? Any epiphanies while reading it?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I first read it as a seventeen year old and certainly found it interesting back then. It is an original, witty, though sardonic dissection of 19th century Christian (and earlier) morality and ethics, in a high literary style. As a philosophy graduate, I would suggest "Genealogy Of Morals" in preference to BGAE. It is a generally considered a superior work and covers similiar themes, but more fully developed. As a woman, be prepared for some misogynistic undertones in Nietzsche's work.
