Question:

Dance Dance Dance!!?

I've always loved dance, being in dance class, just dancing in general!! I've always been enrolled in dance classes through school, from 7th grade-12th grade. I've never had any "professional" training, or actually paid for a class, however. I would really love to take some more dance classes, more...."hardcore" not just for beginners/semi intermediate courses that they offer at my community college. I want to actually learn something new and be critiqued heavly. Where are good places to enroll in, and are academys more strict? What's the difference between academies and just regular dance places labeled "dance" as their business name? I really like ballet, modern, and hip hop by the way. Also, I'm in my early twenties now (23), and I really wish I would have gotten more serious about dance earlier in life because it's always been a passion. Am I too old now to be enrolling in dance classes? I know it's kind of an odd question...but I would like some input on what others think. Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes! It's a great workout and helps built confidence. It also takes away stress and you have fun doing it.

I suggest you enroll in some jazz and/or ballet classes for adults - and the ARE out there - as soon as you can. They are not only offered at your community college. Check your local recreation center and the yellow pages for dance studios. Then you can maybe get comfortable with it and get more confident, since you seem worried about your age. In some cities classes are easier to find than others, but they're there.

Really, age is not a factor. It's unrealistic to think you can be pro, but that's not what you want. If you are ready to take up the challenge and commit time, then no, you aren't too old. If you've got a good memory and a little coordination, you can be dancing well into your years!

Take those classes! You'll be glad you did.
