Question:

Are there descendants of the Vroman's in Long Beach, Ca, in late 1800s to early 1900s?

Or know the circumstances of the Vroman's coming to Southern California prior to 1910. My great grandfather had the Star Livery at 211 American Ave in Long Beach, California in approximately 1912

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: While some NY Vromans went early to CA for gold, Walter born about 1862 WI & family didn't show up until early 1900s. His father was Alonzo G & mother Caroline, from NY. 1870 Walter was in Olmsted Co, MN, 1880 Dakota Territory. Alonzo's father was Abram, mother Jane. They moved to WI between 1842-45, for all I know with the mormons to "winter quarters" - that's only a guess btw and likely wrong if he's the Abram from Albany Co, NY. There were a lot of land speculators. How they'd get there ya wonder? Great Lakes.

Somewhere about 1900 & just past a generation who'd been born WI & MN had enough of cold harsh winters and moved to Disneyland to grow fruit trees or have city businesses.

Oh, another btw - it may be Dutch, Vrooman, so don't be surprised if Jane turns out to be a Jannetje. (<-- woops not, 1880 she said her father's from MA and that's not Dutch!)

Do not fool yourself it'll be easy with all this info because there were two Abrams born about the same time 200 years ago in NY for you to sort out.
