Question:

Who's approval do I need in order to create a site about a book from 1909?

I'm fascinated about a story published in 1909 and I would like to make a sort of fan-club for it. Do I need someone's approval for that? perhaps the approval of the author's relatives or something...?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You don't need approval to create a fan site.

If the copyright is still active on the book, you need approval to post any larger amounts of text from it.

You can find out if the copyright is still active by going to the national copyright database at www.copyright.gov
