Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: A winner is someone that even though he has hardships in daily life does not get discouraged to the point of giving up, and perseveres to attain their goals.

My personal experience, I divorced my husband who was a multi-millionaire. We had 7 boys. I knew if I went to court the children would have to testify because of extenuating circumstances. He told me you came with nothing, you can leave with nothing. There is much more to the story. But my objective in leaving my husband who is my ex now was so that my childrent would not grow up in an abusive home. I wanted to raise them emotionally, and mentally stable. Yes, I am the winner, because I achieved my goal. They are all grown and happily married now with their own families. Yes I am the winner, I have my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. My ex has his money, but not his children, or their off springs. He is left with his money, but no family. He is not a happy person. He is wealthy, and I am the winner living on social securtiy, and all my generations of children.

A winner is someone that accepts defeat with dignity. In the Miss Universe contests, the five runner ups were defeated. But they just keep their heads held high, and have bright smiles on their faces, even they were not chosen as Miss universe.

Of course there are many examples. But then I would have to write a book, and this is not the forum for it. Interestingly enough I have started to write a book about my life in as fiction.
