Question:

How can I know copyright price for a book?

For example I want to translate a book from English to other language, publish it and sell it. For that purpose I need to purchase the copyright. Is there some way to find out that, except writing an email to a publisher. May be some web site or something like that.

Thank you very much for your answer!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I always assumed that the Rights and Permissions department of a publishing house came to an agreement on the fee with the author. If the author was Ian Fleming, it would be fairly high, but an unknown author would be quite reasonable. You can telephone the publishers' HQ, ask for Rights & Permissions & they will help.

It's not worth taking a risk thinking nobody could possibly notice if you used it, you'd be amazed how many eyes there are everywhere.
