Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: By great war, you mean world war I and that many people argued that going to into WWI would be disasterous in economy for America. Also, it was a war mainly in Europe and America didnot want to get involved, They wanted to me neutral and stay out of their way. Also suffering casaulties and damage was not favored, since industrialization was going on. They also had this policy of Isolationism and to be left alone. People for the war, wanted more power for America i guess and that the ship, Lusitania sunked by Uboats, german boats pissed America off really bad. Either way, germans were suspecting America helping the Allies by selling their guns and weapons. People for the war, wanted also to sell weapons and make a lot of money to help eitherside of the war, but it would lead to conflict such as the sinking of Lusitania.

United States shapped public opinion through propaganda and they shapped the opinion because America had to be united under one deciision during this time of chaos in World WAr I with trench warfare going on.

The groups exploited war through gov'ts propoganda and also the rise of Nationalism cause all of this. People had so much pride that they would do anything for their country. umm Italy was really confusing in WWI, they kept switiching sides and that many countries used propoganda to lure men into war untill it was too late and disasterous trench warfare was destroying everyone in the Maginot line.

The arguments for the Treaty of Versailles on america'sbasis was based on Woodrow Wilson's 14 points and how he wanted self-strengthenig for other countries/nations while isolationism for AMerica. America wanted the Treaty of Versailles so issues can be settled fairly based onthe majority of the winners or the triple entente. But it was againest the Treaty of VErsailles because it would later proven disasterous in economy and lead to the Great Depression and later on WWII. Germany suffered the most in having almost to go bankrupt and to pay reparations war. Japan suffered because it needed to export and many other countries suffered also. Also the blaming of Germany in causing the war would be horrible. America's economy would also go down in the great depression with the stock market crashing since there was not exporting or trading between countries.
