Can someone identify a picture of a possible known german officer?

i have a portrait of a man and woman-its an original portrait done in pastel i think-it seems to be that the man is a german officer--im wondering if he was known well enough for someone to identify the man just by looking at the portrait-the portrait was done by a well known german artist and was painted in the year 1948--in the town or area of Garmisch--i will be happy to send the picture of the portrait by e-mail--thanks
