Question:

Reenactment of civil war and our historical wars, looking for information?

Where? when? how can people join these reenactments? Does it cost any thing? Are there many of them? what wars are reenacted?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: To go to an reenactment you just find out where in your area they are held and when and go. To join in the reenactment you have to be part of the group(s) holding the reenactment.

To do this you can go to the web and find a group near you go to one of their meetings and talk to the members in other words interview them, a reenactment group is a society that does what they do for the love of it but some can be overbearing with their rules of authenticity. Read a book like "Reliving the Civil War: A Reenactor's Handbook" by R.Lee Hadden that covers reenacting top to bottom. Be aware that you will see more men then women as reenactors as the war was fought by men the only women in the camps would be camp followers, wives and laundresses of the troops Officer's wives, Christian Commission Women and Nurses or of coarse women dressed up as men to fight in war.

Research what you want to be go to web sites of suppliers and price your costume buy what you can and borrow what you my need. and go to your first reenactment. Good luck and I hope to see you at a reenactment.
