Question:

Is Dante's Divine Comedy written in modern Italian?

Or is it a medieval form of Italian?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is absolutely written in a medieval form of italian, wo DO NOT speak that way ;-)
Whan Dande wrote the Comedy, there was not yet an official italian language, but only many dialects. The language he used was the dialect from Florence. That dialect became then the Italian language, even because of the prestige the Comedy gave to it. For this reason in Italy we say that Dante is "the Italian language's father".
Bye :-)
