Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: In my graduate class, one of the students argued, quite effectively, that the green light stood for money, wealth. I wish I could remember exactly what she wrote in her paper, because it was brilliant.

The symbol I remember most clearly representing God was the optician's billboard with the giant eyes watching the road.
