Is Colette a good author?

I don't know much about French literature ... I have read a lot of Proust, but that's about it. So, is Colette an author worth reading? How would you characterize her novels? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The author of Gigi was quite controversial in her day. She carried on both lesbian and heterosexual affairs which were also themes in her writing. She is definately considered an important French writer. Her writing was relationship driven.
