Question:

What is the book called " The Giver" about?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's been awhile since I last read it but if my memory serves me correctly;

Its about a town... thats not really a town. It's perfect (or so it seems to be) There is no color, no sensations, your future is picked out for you when you become of age. A boy gets a job with The Giver (which is very rare) who is an old man that has the knowledge of color/sensation/reality and passes it on to the boy who holds that knowledge for the next time someone becomes Giver. The boy (can you tell I forgot his name? I think its Jonas or something) then starts to see the perfect world he lives in to be corrupted. They kill off unplanned babies and so forth. He becomes uncertain that this is the way to live... and eventually escapes to the real world in order to live his own life.

Did I just bore you? It is a good book with a lot of meaning, I just don't think I did a good enough job with describing how deep the book is.
