Tips for a young aspiring writer.?

I hope one day to be an author. As it is I spend most of my time writing. I am only sixteen. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to improve my writing, vocabulary, etc. Or ideas to write a story about. I want to write full-length stories, not short stories. Besides that, what kind of stories are people interested in? I need to know so that I know what to write about.
