would get on well to gether? What antics would they get up to?

I think Frodo would run into Harry while on his way to Mordor by accidentally losing his way and walking onto the Howgarts Express along with the Fellowship. Gandalf and Dumbledore would hit it off as soon as they got to school, and Harry and Frodo would probably help each other fight off the villains...

Hmmm. Maybe Frodo would learn magic from Harry, (can hobbits wield wands?) I know Tolkien says they can't do magic but since they're not humans or muggles, I'd be willing to bet that they could use a wand. Or Harry might fly Frodo and Sam to Mordor so they can avoid the excruciatingly painful trek on foot.

Or maybe Dumbledore and Gandalf will pool their magic and destroy the ring and Frodo could just attend Hogwarts!

I just thought, Aragorn and Sirius would totally get along, wouldn't they? I mean they're both the ruggedly handsome type, right? Maybe they'd start to get competetive.

Gimli and Hagrid would get along because they both have huge beards. They'd compare each others beards...
