Question:

What makes artwork so valuable?

I would like answers that are really thought out.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: the people that are willing to buy it determine the value, since most works of art are one of a kind if a great number of people desire to own it and are willing to pay large sums of money to do so then its worth whatever they are willing to pay. it has no intrinsic value by itself. interestingly paper money is valued exactly the same way, a$1 dollar bill & a $100 dollar bill are the same size & made of the same paper so have exactly the same intrinsic value (nothing) but people are willing to do more work or trade more goods for the $100 so it is more valuable. hope this helps
