Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: My favorite character was Heathcliff because his character was so complex and tormented you couldn't help hating him and loving him at the same time. He truly was a tortured soul since birth. I hated Catherine the absolute most because I felt she betrayed Heathcliff and their love by marrying Edgar - she basically abandoned Heathcliff yet still played with his emotions and fueled his obsession of her. Heathcliff's life equated misery and Catherine contributed to that yet still brought the only true sense of joy he ever experienced. Heathcliff was abused and discriminated against from the very beginning leading his emotions and actions to react violently with vengeance and self destruction his only solace.
